Each and every person considers money as their sixth sense without which they cannot make a complete use of the other five.
Corruption of any kind corrupts. It costs us either money or confidence or both. But intellectual corruption is far more dangerous. It ruins and costs lives.
Intellectual Corruption, in simpler words is a term lumped together from the words of Plagiarism and Fakery. In the domain of ethical and intellectual corruption, few would find their hands unstained.
In the present scenario, Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev have taken the nation by storm against monetary corruption. However, Intellectual Corruption is ignored a lot, although it is the root cause of almost all types of corruption.
The Satyam scandal, the 2G scam, the Harshad Mehta fraudulent embezzlement, the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy which led to global financial crisis or the so called Recession are all examples of malified intentions.
The produlent intentions hidden behind all these quandaries comes from the intelligent, smart, intellect but corrupt and immoral minds.
It is nearly impossible to avoid the phrase ‘Culture of Intellectual Corruption’, it’s a bit of a smear, but surely it applies anywhere and everywhere, its not that it is do with money only, it is corruption which is to do with thought. Breach of trust, conspiracy theories, cheating and falsification of records on the face of economic, political and global strata accounts for the dimensions of Intellectual Corruption.
Intellectual Corruption is an intractable problem. It is like diabetes, can only be controlled, but not totally eliminated. It may not be possible to root out corruption completely at all levels but it is possible to contain it within tolerable limits. Honest and dedicated persons in public life, control over expenses could be the most important prescriptions to combat corruption. Corruption is a global problem that all countries of the world have to confront, solutions, however, can only be home grown. We have tolerated corruption for so long. The time has now come to root it out from its roots.
I appreciate the choice of topic. If being so young you find yourself in a position to opine about a theme like "Intellectual Corruption" which many a mature people would not even know the meaning of, then I can only wonder what a brilliant academic you might transform into once you grow up. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteMy earlier advice stands. Read a lot. It will add a lot to you, your personality and your writings.
I'll take that as a compliment Saumya di.
Deletethank you!
As far as reading is concerned, I'll start with that once my exams are over.
Well said Prashant.
ReplyDeleteI think we are caught in a vicious circle of corrupt intellectuals being led by corrupt mediocres elected by corrupt means in corrupt society!
We need to break this circle but "How" and "When" are the 2 major bottlenecks!
yes this is interesting topic and totally appreciated the fact that they explained in the above. we all use intellectual corruption on some ways.
ReplyDeletewe have to focus on this
ReplyDeleteI currently lack money, but I am not evil. I would contend that greed, jealousy, materialism, duality, etc. are more closely connected to the root of all evil. We are approaching a point in technological 'evolution' in which we can focus on and convey 'values' over 'value' and do away with the whole concept of fiat currency, which has its roots in fear. Thoughts?
