All for a cause!

We usually sit in the comfort of our homes, not facing any hardship in life. Then there are others who crave for two morsels of food a day.

We say, education is a necessity for all. How will these underprivileged kids get a fair chance? They need support! For the very same cause, 'The Joy Run' has been planned.

'The Joy Run' is a special concept where people from various cities run at the same time on the same day with everyone running for a cause. “The Joy Run” is a pure fund – raising event meant for charitable causes and an opportunity for hundreds of NGOs across India to promote their causes and also raise funds through a 7 - 10km run. 26th of February, 2012, will have superstar film personalities, sports celebrities, mega TV stars and various other eminent personalities supporting the causes of various NGOs. The first of its kind, this noble effort will add more cities across India with every passing year. With the support of every citizen who enjoys giving back to the society, 'The Joy Run' will be the largest run in history and the most important day in the NGO calendar. By 2016, 'The Joy Run' will take place simultaneously in various countries.

The initiative is a joint effort of “I Love My Mother Earth” Foundation and Gul Panag’s SOAP (Social Outreach Accreditation Program)

The 'announcement':

"Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (University of Delhi) in association with ILMME & SOAP presents The Joy Run (Delhi).

The Joy Run - a one of its kind concept that uniquely entwines sport with spirit. It is a multi city run in which participants run at the same time on the same day and that too for a cause.

"Thousands of runners,
Myriad causes,
7 kilometers,
8 cities,
1 aim"

This, 26th of February, run to celebrate and make every step count.

The Joy Run starts from India Gate (tentative) at 7 AM.

Shri Sandeep Dikshit, MP, has kindly consented to grace the event as our Chief Guest. "

What this program needs, is YOUR participation.
I, being a school student, would be unable to take part in this run, hence I am doing my share by telling the world about it.

GO FOR IT!

The root of all societal problems: Intellectual Corruption.

Lack of money is the root of all evil. Money is where it starts and money is where it all ends.
Each and every person considers money as their sixth sense without which they cannot make a complete use of the other five.
Corruption of any kind corrupts. It costs us either money or confidence or both. But intellectual corruption is far more dangerous. It ruins and costs lives.
Intellectual Corruption, in simpler words is a term lumped together from the words of Plagiarism and Fakery. In the domain of ethical and intellectual corruption, few would find their hands unstained.
In the present scenario, Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev have taken the nation by storm against monetary corruption. However, Intellectual Corruption is ignored a lot, although it is the root cause of almost all types of corruption.
The Satyam scandal, the 2G scam, the Harshad Mehta fraudulent embezzlement, the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy which led to global financial crisis or the so called Recession are all examples of malified intentions.
The produlent intentions hidden behind all these quandaries comes from the intelligent, smart, intellect but corrupt and immoral minds.
It is nearly impossible to avoid the phrase ‘Culture of Intellectual Corruption’, it’s a bit of a smear, but surely it applies anywhere and everywhere, its not that it is do with money only, it is corruption which is to do with thought. Breach of trust, conspiracy theories, cheating and falsification of records on the face of economic, political and global strata accounts for the dimensions of Intellectual Corruption.
Intellectual Corruption is an intractable problem. It is like diabetes, can only be controlled, but not totally eliminated. It may not be possible to root out corruption completely at all levels but it is possible to contain it within tolerable limits. Honest and dedicated persons in public life, control over expenses could be the most important prescriptions to combat corruption. Corruption is a global problem that all countries of the world have to confront, solutions, however, can only be home grown. We have tolerated corruption for so long. The time has now come to root it out from its roots.

The Best Days.

How did it all start? Well, one of my friends at school registered me along with him for a Double Delegation at DelTech MUN '12. My interest in MUNs was waning away bit by bit, and another MUN was the last thing I wanted to do. A couple of days later, he called me up and told me that we had been given USA. The first thought that struck me at that point of time was: 'Hmm, this should be good'. And so, I decided to give it a try.

However, my co-delegate chickened out (Like the Delegate of Turkey did in committee), around 12 days before the conference. I was pretty outraged, but then I reminded myself about our very own Mr. Teletubby.
I called up Anup, and voila! He agreed. I knew he was good enough because I had lost to him in a different MUN!

Then came out the Background guides. Trust me, I could not get a word out of the first agendum's explanation. Ultimately I did figure stuff out, but I was dependent on Anup for it for quite a while. Leaving all that aside, we researched as much as we could, blah blah... In the meantime, we troubled Vivek a lot for all stuff.

Then came the day of a conference. We boarded the Metro at 6:30 in the morning, and managed to reach on time. I was expecting it to be another MUN for me, but what happened was quite contrary to my thoughts. It was a COMPLETELY different experience.

Every person in our committee taught me a lot of stuff. Ranging from Anmol scolding me due to my lack of respect for Amrita to our chair explaining other stuff, it was quite amazing.

What I learnt from this is that there's a lot more to life and MUNs other than just proving yourself. People will respect you if you respect them. I was a cocky person before coming to DelTech, but things have turned around, and I consider myself to be a better person already!

Earlier, people in our school had instilled a thought into me. People who I considered to be great MUNers. What they told me is that dissing people in committee gets you awards. But oh boy, the last thing people wanted here was dissing around.

All said and done, I want to say just one thing. DelTech MUN '12 was the time of my life.

PS: Sorry if I missed out on stuff. G-20 FTW!
PPS: This comes a tad bit late, sorry for that!
